I went to see Matchstick Men last night with Kurt. It kind of reminded me of Fight Club and he said it made him think of Bandits. That was a strange, strange movie. But just recently, has anyone noticed how many previews they play before the movie? We had like...20 minutes of previews. And they all seemed like they were going to SUCK. I seriously have not seen a good movie preview in so long. Actually, I take that back. School of Rock looks kind of fun. But only because it has Jack Black =P

My life has become kind of blah. I feel like I shouldn't be neglecting my blog so much, but nothing interesting has been happening to me. I keep grilling my friends to tell me interesting things about their lives so that I won't be so bored and that's just...rather pathetic.

My interesting thing from yesterday: When Kurt and I were in the downtown plaza we stopped by the Discovery store and played with one of those talking globes to kill time before the movie. I always wanted one of those when I was little ^^; Anyway, we played the "find the country" game and I found 7 in the time alotted (I got stuck on Denmark. Kurt: You've been to Denmark and you STILL can't find it??). And Kurt got 5 because he had to find Denmark too, and couldn't.

But for the record, I do know where it is now. *Points*.

splitting seams

mood: accomplished
I'm trying to take up sewing again, which is kind a bizzaire, out of the blue hobby choice. But I haven't sewn since I was reallly little and had one of those silly little kid machines =P So I'm letting my mom show me how hers works and going from there. And I haven't completley forgotten everything, so that's a relief.

I ripped the seams out of the legs of a pair of jeans I bought at Wal Mart (they were freaking double stitched! what the hell??) to add some fabric um...flaps? fins? I dunno what to call them. They stick out from the outer seam on the pant legs, whatever they are. But I was at the fabric store the other day and I bought a bunch of pretty/interesting patterned fat quarters(meant for quilting, but whatever). And so I cut strips of those are attatched them to the pants. I still need to hem them, but they're almost ready to wear! It's exciting. I so want to start making my own clothes ^^ I also bought some skirt patterns and stuff, so after I do a few wraps for practice I'll definitely try those.

Also, A friend just told me she's making me a quilt (she didn't say quilt, but I'm sure that's what it is) for my college dorm room. Whoa. Apparently she told my mom she's using my favorite colors of "blue and green". Err...I've never seen a blue and green quilt, but whatever! She's really good, so it'll probably be cool ^^;

KiSS dolls are like an addiction...a really time consuming one
06:07pm 24/08/2003

mood: amused
I sent a KiSS doll of Violet Baudelaire to the BKP at Otakuworld.com a little while ago. Dov just wrote me back to say he posted her...and that he really liked her. So I thought "yay, he gave me an editor's choice again!" But actually he gave me an editor's AWARD!! Which is like...super hard to get ^___^ So I'm uncommonly happy! I'll post that doll on my KiSS site later today, soon as I get the chance.

I keep telling myself KiSS dolling just takes too much time, and I should be focusing on school and the college process. But then I get warm, fuzzy, feedback. And I start thinking about more dolls. Somehow I doubt my art teacher would count my dolls for credit...

I finished all my pre-back-to-school Art History homework. Now I just have to finish my summer reading, essay, and test-studying! Blargy, that's still a lot to do in a week.

I just discovered I have a (rather small) mole on my ear. On that little hard part that sticks out over the inside of the ear...is it called the tragus? I'm sure it has a name as people get it pierced...

That was sort of weird, but then again, if I could have picked where I wanted a mole, that totally would have been it.

There is SO much to do before school starts again.
I'm mostly freaking out about NAHS at this point. I think I was supposed to meet with Jason to discuss this whole presidency deal, but I haven't even talked to him on the phone since June. And I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing! I'll make the forms I promised Schwiez - for each member to fill out with their other clubs/obligations and whatnot, but wasn't I supposed to get the meetings on the calender or something? And isn't Schweiz in Alaska? I feel like I'm supposed to be doing a hundrend things, yet no one's told me how, or...aaah.

"Artists are flakey by nature" has become our mantra. But is it even going to pass as an excuse when the time comes around and Schweiz finds out how little I've done?

I also have this paper to write, which is killing me, Jane Eyre to read, because I'm a slacker, along with Wide Sargossa Sea or something like that. Then I have more Art History work to do, and if Scott Johnson decides to pile some Bio on the stack, I might just combust.

Then, on the slightly less urgent site, I'm trying to organize a writing group for our area. I pretty much have the members and stuff arranged, but they're all hard to keep in contact with. Then I still have the actual >website< to build, along with the blurty community and all that. This has become my pet project, so I feel a certain obligation to get it done by the time I said I would. But school work stays prioritized, considering the colleges I'm trying for, so I guess...I should stop writing here, and get to work on something else. One of those things on the long, long list...

why are the art buildings always the ghetto ones?
04:52pm 17/08/2003

mood: ditzy
We just got back from Walla Walla yesterday. (NOTE: I was in Washington when the blackouts occured! Not that they would have affected me anyway...) It was okay driving there, as we had a lot of stops and hotels and such, but the way back was horrible. So lonnngg ~__~ I now have a section in my sketchbook dedicated to bad scribbles done in a moving car. No one shall be seeing those anytime soon =D

My totally useless notes on collges:
Whitman
-gives out free onions upon acceptance
-has duck-making contests
-has a great campus, save the ghetto art building
Reed (*heart*)
-chases the Doyle owl
-requires upperclassmen be anti-social in singles
-has a glow-opera
Willamette
-throws you in the creek on your birthday
-is stingy with course catalogs
Puget Sound
-is covered in crows during summer

I also just found out that Lenora, who TAs our Studio AP class sometimes went to Whitman. Freaking weird o__O One of the admissions guys I was talking to mentioned her, since she's an alum of our school too, as "that girl who would spray paint her boots different colors". That was a terribly accurate description. I actually said "Dude!". Out loud. Nooo, I'm not from California...

dead mice float...just like people!
04:44pm 12/06/2003
You know, I'm so BAD about writing in this thing, I should just include some kind of permanent apology to anyone who has me on their friends list and periodiclly wonders if I've died yet.

Anyway, I found a dead mouse in the pool today. It was like a baby...babies tend to wander into our pool and die. Last year it was a baby snake, and a baby quail the year before. Mom was like "no! don't fish it out! leave it for the pool man!". So I did. But I kept wondering what he was going to do with it. Take it out and leave it on the lawn? Throw it in the trash can? Or just like...leave it on the patio for someone to step on. Hmm.

Meanwhile, I've been on this quest to find a version of Titus Andronicus that's NOT the pelican edition (I love pelican, but it drives some people insane). And like...no one has it. Actually, one Borders was the only place I even found THAT edition. Why doesn't anyone have that play?? I mean, its not one of the more famous ones, but still. I have a few more places in town to check before I go crazy and order it off amazon (because when I order one thing of amazon, I feel like I have to order more to make up for the shipping, and then I end up ordering all this stuff I don't really need...). But one of the bookstores had a really big graphic novel selection, so I was going to buy the first two um...whatdoyousay? volumes of Mars, since it looked interesting, but then I noticed that they had the first FAKE manga (!!!) which just came out in like...May. So I bought that instead ~__~ Vly and I still need to get our hands on the OAV though...that series is yaoi-ful and fun, albeit, very silly. Shoujo manga with a shoot-em-up premise is always amusing =)

My APs are all over today so...I have time again. It's exciting. I don't know if I'll actually be able to bring myself to do any work this week, so there'll probably be more doodles.

In other news, for Joe's birthday we're all going to Comic Con in San Diego! Eee, I've never been to San Diego (or...a convention *shame*) so I'm totally excited! It's not until July but I'm like...mwaa, can't wait! He wants us all to cosplay, since he's doing Star Wars stuff, and later Batman, but I have no idea what I could do. It would be a fun excuse to dye my hair a crazy anime color. But costume...? hmm, I dunno. I haven't really done this before. o__O Any suggestions?

back from the future!
03:47pm 21/04/2003

Getting back into the states was a giant hassle. It's always a giant hassle, isn't it? We had to fly to Frankfurt to make the connection to our state-bound flight, where they repeatedly told us that we needed printed tickets to fly (we had e-tickets, which always cause problems), then had the same problem when we got there. But the plane was really nice...Luftansa was much more comfortable than United. And I only had to get frisked twice (well, once it was more of "patted down", but the other time =P) Because my ZIPPER set off the security alarm!

But Paris itself was fun (did I mention that's where I was going?). We saw the Moulin Rouge which was totally awesome and exciting! I loved their costumes. The funny part was that often there'd be guys on stage in skimpy leather, and the women in the crowd would totally be like "WHOOO!!", but when the topless girls came on, all the guys were quiet. We also virtually had a front row seat...we wound up eating there, so the stage was right by our table.

We also did a lot of museums, which were just as good as the one's in san francisco (but not much better, sadly). The Louvre had a MICHELANGELO EXIBIT though!! Which was awesome...two rooms of just his sketches! And I got to see two of his sculptures too, which was cool cool, tho they were the unfinished ones. I think the sculpture was the best part...I wasn't impressed by many of the painting exibits, and I almost got trampled by tourists trying to see La Jaconde...that was a bit unsettling. I feel sort of odd for not being terribly impressed by it. Though it's just something else to be in a massive museum like the Louvre, or even the museum du Moyen Age. I love it.
And so ends my spring break adventure...I realized too late I forgot to record my homework, and the only assignment I remember is my French recording (bien sur!). I probably have history HW, and I'm all ready behind in that class, but it's just going to have to wait. Turning in a few late won't kill me. Oh, and in other news, go laugh at andy! XD

last entry for a bit
10:50am 11/04/2003
It's finally !spring break! for me, and we're actually going to Paris ^^ Which would be a lot cooler if the French weren't at such odds with the Americans (and visa versa) now, but eh. We're leaving for SF tonight to catch a flight, and we'll be back by Sunday if all goes right. But yeah, no internet access for me =)

Andy sent me this link yesterday and since then I've watched all the episodes they've had posted > happy tree friends It's...gory, yes, but amusing in a sort of mind numbing way. If you're not sure about the squick factor, watch House Warming and keep in mind that's the most mild. (don't start with Eye Candy) This seems like something you'd like, Agnes, but I'm not sure ^^;
That music is crazy.

day of silence
05:24pm 09/04/2003

Participated in the Day of Silence today...it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was pretty sure, going into it, that I'd last until lunch and then slip up horribly, but I didn't. I was also sort of nervous that we'd get hassled (only about ten of us participated, but by the end of the day the whole school knew what we were doing) by the rest of the students or some cynical teachers, but it wasn't that bad. When I started talking again about an hour ago (I actually did about nine hours, which I think was the goal) it was so weird. It's actually sort of hard to get used to...you don't have nod or move your hands or whatever ^^;
Megan actually made the announcement at meeting today, which was sort of ironic, but like...everyone clapped, and we got a lot of positive feedback, which was good. I think the point of it is to make people think. People would appraoch me and say hi then go, "Ohh, wait, don't answer that! I forgot you weren't talking today!" If it wasn't for the cause I don't think I could have done it. Yesterday I was bent on NOT participating, but when I looked at the website, I kind of felt...I don't know, obliged? And I'm glad I did ^^ I brought the explanation cards that we photocopied and handed out so people would know what the cause WAS (helping to end the discrimination that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered students and their allies face in schools, though I'm sure whoever's reading this probably knows that ^^).

I wanted to make pins but I didn't have time...Pam and Mary made signs that said "Are you part of the family? Gay-Straight alliance - End the Silence" and taped them to their backs.

Strange Triangles has been minimalized. FINALLY! After a little thought I decided to leave it as my homage to Digimon...poor, poor Digimon...it didn't hold our attention long enough. I noticed Rue's page is looking kind of neglected too (Agnes is the mose active out of all of us ^^; *joins the fanclub*) ...maybe we should have a like..a group shakeup =D where we get off our asses and back into the website-limbo

This weekend was such a drag I actually felt RELIEVED going back to school. I had some much work to catch up on after the art trip (to San Francisco, where we hit three museums in one day...MOMA was my favorite, by far. Some of the stuff there just gave me chills) that I worked straight through the weekend only breaking to go out to eat with my family on saturday. Though I didn't want to =P I didn't get time to study for some tests, which I probably screwed up quite nicely today.

If anyone here uses AOL 8.0, would they agree that all the possible IM noises could make for some crazy crazy cyber sex? I mean you have the horse, the "I love you", the breaking glass, the various gasps and screams, the chicken sneeze etc etc

And Rheanna, if you're reading this I've been mooning over your site lately XD it just keeps getting cooler! (and I love rereading the HP comics...heads up 7up! *gg*) I'm horribly jealous of your ability to commit! I wound up hooking an account with blogger so that if I ever DO get an art site I can update it lazily. Heh...lazily is good. Oh, and new icon. It's Hedwig.
